
Tournament Rules
TOURNAMENT DATE: 7/13/2024
Time: Start fishing @ 6am, weigh fish by 4:30pm
Cost: $100 entry fee per boat, 100% of entry fees will be dispersed in the following categories;
(Example – If there is 20 boats that would give us a $2000 purse)
Marlin– 35% ($700)
Ahi – 25% ($500)
Ono – 20% ($400)
Mahi – 20% ($400)
Aku – Special Prize

GRAND CHAMPION - determined by combined weight of 2 flag fish. The Grand Champion will also host next years event.

*TOURNAMENT REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE WHEN ALL 100 SEATS AT AWARDS BANQUET ARE SOLD OUT (WE CAP OUT TEAMS BASED ON SELLING OUT THE BANQUET). *
If no fish are caught in a category money will be dispersed in other categories.
Safety Message;
Please keep your safety and safety of your crew in mind at all times when participating in this event.
Deep sea fishing can be a dangerous activity, so make sure you have proper safety equipment along
with VHF and Cell-phones aboard vessels. Do not push the limits beyond the vessel or crews abilities.

RULES
- One active or retired HFD / ARFF member must be Team Leader and aboard vessel for fishing
tournament
- Launch from anywhere, start fishing anywhere on Hawaii Island at 6am
- Catching bait (live or dead) before the start of fishing is allowed.
- All fish must be caught on hook and line (no spearfishing)
- Modified jungle rules (no greensticks)
- A picture of landed fish must be TEXT TO ME @ 808-217-3240 to qualify at scale
- All fish must be weighed at Honokohau Harbor boat parking area by 4:30pm
- Heavily Mutilated fish will be disqualified
A scale will be provided at Honokohau Harbor Boat Parking Area. The scale will be open from 2pm until
4:30pm. Each team will only be eligible to win 1 category (unless there is only one weighed fish in both
categories) enabling others to have a chance to place. I reserve the right to make a fair decision about a
dispute in category winners. There may be circumstances not covered in these rules that may arise, and
it will be a judgement call at the time to decide how to proceed.
BANQUET/AWARDS CEREMONY
Location: Harbor House Restaurant (Honokohau Harbor)
Time: 3pm until closing (around 7:30pm)
Cost: $20 per person, max seating available is 100 people (presale tickets only, available HERE)
Harbor House restaurant has reserved a space for up to 100 people to attend the banquet/awards
ceremony following the fishing tournament. They will provide heavy pupu’s (deep fried
seafood combo, smoked pork, and kimchi edamame) and a no host bar where you can purchase
whatever drinks they have on the menu. For those of you that don’t know, harbor house has been
donating a portion of their sales to the Daniel Sayre Foundation with the intention of contributing
towards the new rescue boat that Rescue Company 7 will be accepting in the near future. Harbor House has also donated meals, gift certificates, and have expressed their gratitude for the efforts of the first responders of Hawaii Island. This is our way to show support to a local business by filling up all 100 of those seats reserved for our event.
